Review of Sandcastle and Other Stories: The Complete Edition by Justin Bog

Sandcastle and Other Stories: The Complete Edition is a collection of “Dark psychological suspense tales.” Out of the 12 stories, I felt that the only dark one was “Sandcastle.”  In that tale, a lady decides that another woman at the beach doesn’t deserve to have her child. What she does is messed up and cold.

The others were just vignettes about people’s lives and were either odd, ok or kind of boring. I think the author would’ve been better off saying they were vignettes. Since I was expecting dark stories, I was disappointed. If that doesn’t bother you, you might like this collection.

Tanie's Reviews

I love reading, listening to music, watching wrestling and spending time with my friends and family. I read mostly Young Adult books and I love paranormal books, especially vampire ones. I am originally from Connecticut, but I live in Maryland now. I have a book buying habit and I'm addicted to the book section of my local thrift shop.

  1. Interesting take on my dark collection of 12 stories or vignettes, either label actually works—and not what I expected, and, understandably, not everyone is going to love where my squirrelly mind leads, what drives me to create the tales. I do appreciate you, Tanie, even taking the time to read Sandcastle and Other Stories: The Complete Edition as part of my wild, cool Book Blog Tour. I like subtlety in dark form across the board, in film (Hitchcock), novels, music (love NIN, Pink Floyd), and Shirley Jackson-esque situations. Hope your next reading choice is much more entertaining. Meanwhile, I’ll go back to the drawing board—ha! Take care, Justin
